Competitions

General Information:

The annual ORMTA competitions are the most celebrated competitions, which have provided a vital stepping stone for performing careers of many fine musicians.

The following are the various entry classes:

Junior Level (Grades 9-10)
Provincial Student Instrumental (Grade 10, Associate Level)
Provincial Student Vocal (Grade 9 and above)
Young Artist (post-Associate Level)

Competitions take place at three levels: the local Branch, Zone, and Provincial.  To compete at the Provincial Level, the candidate must have first successfully competed at the Branch and Zone levels.  The Junior Class is hosted as a preamble towards the senior classes.  This class only participates at the Branch and Zone level.

National Finals are for the Provincial Young Artist winner every other year and sponsored by CFMTA.  The Young Artist class is the most prestigious level of our competitions.  During the year of National Finals, the Young Artist winner also receives a tour hosted by various branches within Ontario.  During the off year, the Young Artist winner receives a concert debut hosted by their home city.

ENTRY FORMS: The same entry form is submitted at each level of competition along with the fee for that level.
